Safety Second Final Trailer

In the final week of development, we made it our goal to work towards bringing all of the elements of our project together and making it a complete product. We also focused on putting finishing touches on the interactions to make the experience feel more full and engaging.

To enhance immersion, we added sound effects to interactive elements within the lab. Objects now have audio, helping to ground the user more fully in the simulation. We also spent time polishing the mechanics, specifically improving collision detection and object interactions. We fixed issues from previous weeks, such as users being able to teleport into tables or see out of the lab, creating a smoother and more contained experience.

We also polished the liquid pouring interactions from last week. In addition to distinguishing colors for each chemical, when you mix the chemicals, the colors react appropriately and mix to create visually distinct mixtures.

We also introduced a brand-new level that serves as a personal protective equipment (PPE) onboarding experience. In this level, users are required to put on gloves before performing experiments, establishing good safety practices right from the beginning. If the user puts PPE on, they will be unable to experience eye contamination.

To increase replayability and to add the unpredictability of real lab safety hazards, we added an endless mode where users must respond to randomly occurring hazards. These scenarios require quick thinking and reinforce safety protocols in a dynamic environment.

Additionally, we improved the UI prompts to display instructions that help guide users through each activity. They now have information on the safety feature that the level is trying to teach the user about, as well as directions on how to proceed through the level.

Finally, we overhauled our website and our product’s branding with a name, a new logo, and a new theme. The content on the website has been updated to accurately reflect the product’s features. The website also features a trailer for our product on the homepage, which shows off our design and gameplay.
